Below is some helpful information at tax time for anyone with a home mortgage. 



Q: What is a Form 1098?

A: This form is filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  It details your loan payment history to include the amount of interest and mortgage-related expenses paid on a mortgage during the tax year.

Q: When will I receive my 1098?

A:  Federal law mandates that they are mailed by January 31 st each year

Q: What do I do with this form?

A:  Take the 1098 with you when you file your income taxes.  Your tax professional will be able to advise you.

Q: Can I get the 1098 information online?

A:  Through our website and the Borrower’s Portal, you can look at the tax information but we cannot guarantee it’s accuracy.  Please wait for the printed copy in the mail to use for your tax filing purposes.

Q: Can the 1098 be emailed or faxed to me?

A:  No.  We cannot email or fax your 1098 form.

Q: If I have questions about information on the 1098, who should I talk to?

A:  Please contact your tax professional or the IRS directly.


FAQ’s about a REVISED FORM 1098

Q: Why did I receive a revised Form 1098?  How did this happen?

A: Our mortgage servicing software had an issue which we found after we sent the 2014 1098s. We have been working with the software company and have resolved the issue.

Q: Does this affect my mortgage?

A: No, not at all. The history as reported on the 1098 is accurate – however the total amounts reported in Box 1 and Box 4 are incorrect.

Q: Do I have to refile my taxes?

A: As a tax payer you must consult with your tax adviser or make the decision on your own. We recommend that you consult an accountant to determine your own best option. 

Q: Who can I have refile my taxes?

A: We cannot advise you on whom to review your taxes. There are several accountants listed throughout the state that provide tax advice and we recommend that you contact one that best meets your interests.
