HELENA – The Montana Department of Commerce (DOC) will present the 2016 Made in Montana Tradeshow for Food and Gifts in Helena at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall on March 11–12.

The annual two-day tradeshow connects wholesale store buyers from across the region. It will be the largest ever, with more than 140 members of the Made in Montana program exhibiting. Products include gourmet foods and beverages, fine arts and crafts, apparel, accessories, home décor, and much more.

“Residents and visitors alike are looking to buy authentic Montana products while touring the state,” DOC Director Meg O’Leary said. “To that end, this show represents a great opportunity for store buyers and Montana sellers to come together and get the maximum number of local products on store shelves.”

The demand for genuine, authentic and locally made products has been on the rise due to many “buy local” and Montana-centric campaigns. A recent study done by the Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research at the University of Montana indicated that the economic impact of visitors purchasing local products not only increases the length of the visitors’ stay in the state but also the total amount they spend on their trip.

Friday will be set aside for wholesale buyers only. It provides a one-stop marketplace for Made in Montana food and gift producers to meet and sell their authentic products to store buyers for resale. Qualified buyers may register at mimtradeshow.eventbrite.com.

Saturday offers an opportunity for exhibitors to sell directly to the public at retail prices. Potential customers can see, sample and purchase products while at the same time learning where they can be found in stores in their area. The general public is invited to attend this day from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Admission is free.

Exhibitors this year include seasoned veterans of the tradeshow showing off their latest and greatest products as well as 52 new exhibitors hoping to get their goods on store shelves for the first time.
